The Podcasting Kit for SharePoint (PKS) is a social media platform based on the Microsoft® Office SharePoint Server. With PKS, you can:

  • share content by producing and publishing your own audio and video podcasts
  • use it to find the most relevant content using the five star rating system, tag cloud, search engine and provide feedback via comments
  • play podcasts in real-time using Microsoft® Silverlight™ and progressive playback
  • retrieve instant ROI and metrics with the ability to track the number of podcasts downloaded and/or viewed, instant feedback via rating system and comments, and subscribers via the RSS feed
  • extend the solution using workflows, community sub-sites, access rights, editorial and more through the richness of the SharePoint platform

If you’d like to get a feel for what PKS can do for your organization, we are pleased to offer, in collaboration with Microsoft, a downloadable Virtual Machine (VM) with a base installation of PKS already loaded.  This VM is “time-bombed” using a trial version of SharePoint, so the temporary license will expire after a time, but this VM will give you an opportunity to try out many of the features PKS has to offer.
